There were tornadoes in New York early this summer, and one strong downdraft brought a large limb down from a big tree in a neighboring yard. A branch about 3-4 inches in diameter pierced through the roof of my beloved DollHouse shed.
In my version of the hero's journey, I faced an unexpected challenge that tested my resourcefulness and creativity. Here’s how my adventure unfolded:
1. The Call to Adventure
It all began when I discovered a significant hole in the roof of my greenhouse. This obstacle sparked a sense of urgency and the need for immediate action.
2. The First Step: Repairing the Roof
I quickly patched the hole using some extra greenhouse roofing material I had on hand. This initial step was crucial in protecting my possessions and ensuring the building structure was protected.
3. The Transformation: Embracing New Possibilities
Once the roof was repaired, I felt inspired to think outside the box. I decided to purchase a camping stove, which would allow me to utilize the hole in the roof to install the exhaust for heating the space. This innovative solution not only provided warmth but also transformed the doghouse into a more versatile area.
4. Resourcefulness: Utilizing the Windfall
The wood from the fallen debris became an unexpected resource. I repurposed this material as fuel for the camping stove, making the most out of a challenging situation.
5. The Outcome: The DogHouse Shed
Ultimately, this journey led to the creation of my DogHouse shed, a space that now serves multiple purposes. The challenges I faced inspired me to adapt and innovate, turning an obstacle into an opportunity.
